Every year the Government of India announces a minimum support price for groundnut, on the recommendation of the CACP, and the figure changes with the year. The MSP is a floor that holds at government procurement centres — it is not a price every mandi trader has to pay. When the mandi is trading above MSP, procurement does not matter to you. The scheme earns its keep exactly when the mandi falls below it.
When prices crash, the state government applies to the centre, and once approved, procurement centres open under the Price Support Scheme — run in AP by APMARKFED on behalf of NAFED. Centres do not open the day prices fall; they typically lag by several weeks. You register in advance on the state marketing portal and are allotted a slot date at your nearest centre.
For this district, the Anantapur and Kadiri APMC yards are the main collection points. Before you load anything, confirm at your Rythu Bharosa Kendra (RBK) that a centre is open for groundnut this season.
The quality specifications — moisture limit, share of sound kernels — are re-notified every season. Ask at the RBK or the APMC yard for this season's numbers before you load. A high-moisture load is turned away.
Whether to wait for a centre or sell in the mandi depends on the live price. If the mandi is near or above MSP, waiting gains you nothing. If it is well below, wait only if you have storage. And compare on the take-home price after transport, not the headline.
